Mr. Selanne Meet Lord Stanley

WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
DUCKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!!!!!!
A messy game, but the Ducks beat the Ottawa Senators 6-2 in Game 5 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals. Captain Scott Niedermeyer won the Conn Smythe Trophy for most valuable player (leapfrogging JS Giguere) and Teemu Selanne celebrates his first championship.
I'm excited.
I'm buying a hat.
These moments are the ones you dream about as a life-long fan, rooting for a sub-.500 team that everyone else in the league makes fun of. Unbelievably awesome. Growing up in Detroit, I'd watch the Red Wings dominate the regular season, eventually breaking a 55-year streak without a Stanley Cup, only to win 2 more after that. I was spoiled in that regard. But my team was the Ducks, lead by Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne. In NHL 97, I'd trade for Mike Modano, put him between Kariya and Selanne and go to town. They were my team even before people started calling me a duck. Today, they made me proud to call myself a fan. They did it. They won a cup.
After coming heart-breakingly close in 2003, ending a magical series - a magical playoffs - to New Jersey; after dominating the playoffs last year, only fizzle out in the conference finals to Edmonton; after picking up Chris Pronger and watching them zoom to the top of the NHL only to falter with injuries. They finally won it all.
WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

You know, I don't know why, but I've always been an Avalanche fan. Don't know why. Probably cause they were champs some years ago going 6-5 in overtime against some oiler team. Probably back in the day when Hockey was a good sport.
